All food in schools must meet nutritional standards so that children have healthy, balanced diets.
This means there must be:
- high quality meat, poultry or oily fish
- at least 2 portions of fruit and vegetables with every meal
- bread, other cereals and potatoes
There can't be:
- fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate or sweets in school meals and vending machines
- more than 2 portions of deep-fried food a week
Sandwiches
If your child wishes to bring a packed lunch, this should be in a suitable container (not a carrier bag) marked with your child's name. We would also recommend that a cool pack is placed inside the lunch box, as it is often very warm in school and this helps to keep the food fresh. We encourage healthy eating in school and ask you to bear this in mind when preparing your child's lunch box. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPLY PRODUCTS CONTAINING NUTS AND EGGS.
Snacktime
We have a healthy eating policy, and do not allow sweets, crisps or drinks at break times.
In EYFS snack time is available for your child when they require it and they also have milk during the morning.
KS1 children receive a free fruit snack during the morning.
KS2 children has the option of a piece of fruit at break time.
Your child should bring with them a water bottle for their use throughout the day.
